LONDON, July 24 () -- The former head of British Prime Minister David Cameron's press office and the former chief executive of News International (NI) Newspapers are among the eight people who will be prosecuted for allegedly hacking voicemail messages, state prosecutors said on Tuesday.Andy Coulson, former media chief for Cameron, and Rebekah Brooks, former NI chief executive, joined by Stuart Kuttner, former managing editor, Greg Miskiw and James Weatherup, both former NI executives, and former chief reporter Neville Thurlbeck, former head of news Ian Edmondson will be charged with conspiring to intercept communications without lawful authority, from Oct. 3, 2000 to Aug. 9, 2006.In addition, Glenn Mulcaire, a private investigator jailed in 2007 after admitting he hacked the phones of members of the Royal family, will also face phone hacking charges.All those charged deny the allegations and are set to appear at Westminster City Magistrates court on a date to be confirmed.
KINGSTON, Nov. 17 () -- Jamaican sprinter Steve Mullings might be banned for life from athletics after found guilty of using the banned substance furosemide Thursday by a three-man disciplinary panel.Mullings' urine sample was found positive of diuretic, which can serve as a masking agent for other drugs, after he placed third in the 100-meter final at the Jamaican National Trials on June 24."We have listened to the evidences in the hearing for the past two weeks and we have considered the evidences carefully," panel chair Lennox Gayle said. "It is a unanimous verdict that Mr. Mullings is guilty of having furosemide in both his A and B samples."Mullings had been banned for two years in 2004 after he tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone at the Jamaican championships.Under IAAF rules, an athlete who receives a second ban for a prohibitive substance will be banned for life from taking part in the sport.The 28-year-old sprinter said earlier he would appeal to the Court of Arbitration in Sports.
